Taghleef participates in reaching a revolutionary milestone for sustainability in producing circular plastics
Taghleef Industries in alliance with Grupo Ecopetrol, Esenttia, PepsiCo and Pyrcom, is part of the first advanced chemical recycling project in Latin America.
On October 26th, the Ecopetrol refinery in Barrancabermeja, Colombia, received pyrolytic oil, as result of the transformation of plastic waste recovered by waste collectors in Colombia, carried out by the company Pyrcom. This is the first time that a refinery in this part of the continent began processing elements from non-fossil sources and producing a material for use in the plastics industry.
This collaborative project represents a great advance and a revolutionary milestone for sustainability, not only in Colombia but in the Latin American region, materializing the circularity of plastic products.
The first stage of the project seeks to recover nearly 500 tons of plastic waste, converting it into circular resin that will later be transformed into bioriented polypropylene film for Ti’s customers packaging and label applications.
Taghleef constant commitment to sustainability leads it to build strategic partnerships, innovating and strengthening the value chain in its segment where Ti is an industry leader.
